We presume that all of our students have the capability of and desire to learn and present age appropriate curriculum to them.
Even though our students may not have the ability to speak, our team strongly feels, backed by what our students have shown us, that they have the ability to achieve anything.
This is one of a couple o schools in the whole country doing this type of a model and lot of families move from around the country to be a part of this school.
We are currently looking to add some more teaching assistants to our team.
Our assistants will work to support the teacher and the students within the classroom specifically with executing the strategy/plans that teachers and other specialists come up with.
The ideal candidate would not think they are here to help our students but see themselves more as allies in their journey and are willing to be led by our students and are open to new experiences and learning from them.
The ideal candidate would communicate to the student that they are loved, trusted and respected for who they are and that they believe that the student is more than capable of solving their own challenges with a little bit of support.
The ideal candidate would be super regulated (keep their calm) in all situations and be comfortable to be in the background - if you feel you are here to change their lives, you are probably looking at the wrong job.
The ideal candidate would also be interested in learning and growing their own careers with our students in the school and a college degree is a requirement if being a teacher is part of your desired career path In depth training would be provided to all of the new employees both in terms of the tools/methods we use with our students as well as on the intentionality of communication/other skills we want our team to adopt to be successful with our kids.
Typical Hours are 8:
15am - 3:
15pm Monday-Thursday but might be tweaked a little bit (move 15-30 mins later) starting in August.
